Observation on fresh water algal flora of Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh

Abstract

The paper presents an account of 32 algal taxa belonging to 25 genera under four classes -
Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Bacillariophyceae and Euglenophyceae.This is the first study
from Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh focusing on the enumeration of the algal flora from wetlands
and ponds. The study revealed the occurrence of maximum numbers of 12 genera with 15 taxa in
class Chlorophyceae while only one genus with 1 taxa was observed in class Euglenophyceae.
